Randomization in Medan (part 2)

So, I began our 3rd day with cursing.

At midnight when we're sleeping, suddenly the air conditioner was down. At first I thought that my roommate that turned it off. But in the morning, we realized that actually the electricity was down since midnight.

When we called to the receptionist, we found that only our room that was down, since midnight, and he blamed us and said that it's because of we used too many electricity. Maaann, all we did was sleeping and charging our phones and you said we used too many electronics? Even we have to call several times to the receptionist to finally the technician came to check and he did nothing!

When finally the electricity was up, we decided to get ready for breakfast and meet the boys in the restaurant. For 4 stars hotel, the breakfast menus was so so. And when we told the boys, they said that they room was fine.

The 3rd day was city tour. We went to Maimun Palace right after we checked out. Maimun palace or Maimoon Palace (Indonesian: Istana Maimun) royal palace of Sultanate of Deli and also a well-known landmark in Medan.

Built by Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah in years 1887–1891, the palace covers 2,772 m² and has 30 rooms. Currently, it has become a popular tourist destination in the city.
We're welcomed by a group of traditional Melayu orchestra. You have to pay IDR 5k to enter the palace, and dont forget to take off your sandals or shoes.I also bought some traditional sarongs here for gifts. IDR 25k/each was really cheap!

In the inside, you can see that the Palace has unique interior design of the palace, mixing the elements of Malay cultural heritage, Islam, Spanish, Indian, and Italian style. You also can took a picture in the front of the throne, not only that, you can rented the traditional clothes.

Compared to previous day, the weather was really hot. But we managed to take a pictures in the front of the palace in a real hot day.

For lunch, we're going for lunch to RM. Sinar Pagi that famous by their soup, after that we're going to buy the most famous cake from Medan, bolu Meranti that requested by most of our friends.

Because Arifin said he was tired and all he wanted to do that day was sleep, so after buying the gifts, we decided to go back to hotel.. Only to find that my room hasn't being cleaned yet. It's already 2pm and the room's still messy! So after complaining (again), I went to the boys's room to laying around while waiting, and apparently they room already clean. *what the heck the bad things  happened to our room only??

Around 4pm, after bugging Sean to get ready (since his friend refused to join), we're going to Tip Top ice cream. The old and famous ice cream in Medan.

Medan is also famous with the Durian, so we went to Durian Ucok. Actually the one who really loves Durian was me, but I managed to ask Sean to help me eat 2 Durians. Hahaha

After finished eating the Durian, we're kinda confused where we wanted to go at night. Since it's already Sunday and not really many night attraction there, so we decided to go to Merdeka Walk.

This place has variety of Indonesian foods, chinese foods, and even fast food. While eating your dinner can enjoy Medan city night view in the middle of the city, it also near the city Stadium.
After randoming around, we finally chose to go into Chinese restaurant. We're going back to the hotel after the dinner and repackaging our goods because we will have our first flight in the morning. And I really wished that there will be no random mistreated that caused me upset this time.

In the dawn, actually we didnt wake up late, but because the boys didnt have their shower, we're the latest whom checked out. And the hotel's upset me (again) because it took a long time just to take our risoles from their freezer. But fortunately we already booked their airport's transferred car and managed on time.

After checked in baggage, we have small breakfast that the boys brought while waiting for the departure time (Thanks guys. Hahaha). We arrived in Jakarta around 11am and going back to our own homes by taxi.

Well that's all my random encounter in Medan. And see you later.

Randomization in Medan

This trip was happened because of.. AirAsiaGo promo. #Hailpromo So, suddenly Sean asked me whether I want to join him and his friend to Medan. He told me there's a package promo in AirAsiaGo which was including plane ticket+Hotel.

In total it cost IDR 1.3mio something for 2 person. So I said I would joined if I got 1 friend to go. Since it much cheaper that way. So I dragged one of my friend there. Hahaha

The one thing that I hate traveling with him was, he's never be well planned. So, we already booked the date but not yet confirmed about the list of places that we should go. And because of suddenly the flight was moved to a day before the booked date we need to book another hotel for the first night. And it was done only like, two days before the flight *after chasing him for weeks!=_______=

So we departed at Friday after office. Since my friend worked from home that day, we decidec to meet in front of Museum Mandiri, Kota. I took ojek from office to Tebet station because the traffic in Kuningan area was really bad and then took train from Tebet to Kota and it took around 45 minutes. And I did a really stupid thing. I brought a juice and put it in my sling bag, and the seal was break.

It made all my documents, including the boarding ticket, was wet and even made my powerbank broken #cries. And when I told Sean, he's kinda upset because of my stupidity and because he's run out time and can't reprinted mine. So I told him that it's fine and hopefully I still can boarding. #crossingfinger

After I met with my friend in Kota, we took taxi to Soekarno Hatta Airport. And because of it's Friday, even the toll was on traffic. Sean and his friend, Arifin, already had they dinner when we're came and because it's almost the boarding time, they continued to boarding room when we're came.

We arrived at Kualanamu airport, Medan around 11pm. After waiting for Arifin's baggage, we decided to rent a car with driver to drop us to the hotel. After bargaining, we got IDR 200k for one way and spent our first night in Swiss Belinn, Medan. Eventhough small, but it's a quite nice hotel, good service, and with reasonable price, even it has mini mart right in the front of it.

In the next day, after breakfast, we're repackaged our baggage because we'll moved to another hotel for the rest 2 nights and ready to go. We're waiting for the rented car that Sean already booked for almost 30 minutes (dont asked me how much it cost, he didnt tell me either =___=").

After discussing where we should go right after we climbed up to the car (I did tell you that we have no fix scheduled right?), so, we agreed to go to Taman Hutan Alam (Tahura) Brastagi.

Actually we only did a short walk in Brastagi, since it's nothing that we could do there. Hahahaha
So we're moving to Puncak Gundaling where we could see mount Sinabung from a far. I must admitted it's really nice place to just enjoy the day and sipped Medan coffee.

It's near lunch when we're driving down from Puncak Gundaling. And suddenly the Mount Sinabung has small eruption (thanks to the boys who said it's less challenging there!=___=). I really feel grateful that we already on our way down. Can't imagined if we're still on the top.

We have lunch at Brastagi city. And not take long time after we arrived, the volcanic dust started to rain.

And after finished our lunch, we decided to move from Brastagi, away from Sinabung. So, we went to SipisoPiso waterfall. Because of it's near evening, unfortunately we cant going down to the waterfall. But instead, we're taking photo from above and it's still beautiful up there.

Sipisopiso waterfall earned the title for the highest waterfall in Indonesia (120 meters or 360 feet). It located in northernmost tip of the Lake Toba caldera. Thus, Sipisopiso became a well-known tourist attraction that offers great view of the fall and the lake. So, if you're cant go down to Lake Toba, this spot was recommended for you to have a view of the lake. But I privately reminded you dont forget to bring anti bugs spray or lotion because lot of mosquitoes there.

Because it's almost evening, we have to going back to Medan city, since we're far away from Medan. The journey back took about 3 to 4 hours including rains and the traffic jam.
We have our dinner before going back to hotel and we chose Wajir seafood for sure, it said as one of the famous seafood restaurant in Medan.

Ah, just for the information that actually Medan well known for lot of piggy meat foods, but because only one of us who eat it, so, sorry we didnt go to any. Hahahaha

We're late check in our Hotel, Soechi International Hotel. This hotel was bigger than the previous hotel, but actually I really disappointed with this hotel. For 4 stars hotel, the service was really bad, even our previous hotel was much better eventhough it's smaller.

The front office service was really slow, which makes me more upset (also my gastritis say hi again). And when we finally got our room key, my room can't be opened for... twice! And so I decided to go to Sean's room and crawling there while waiting for the room service to come. And it's only the beginning of my bad experienced in this international hotel labeled, which I will tell you in the 2nd part.
